Upcycled cabinet made from a freight delivery box. “This way up” and other markings are still visible. I have made a chipwood door and legs to complete the cabinet, furnishing it with a cut glass crystal doorknob and steel hinges. The inside of the door is painted a bright turquoise, and triangles of varying sizes edge the top and back panels. Due to the nature of reclaimed wood and upcycled/re-appropriated objects, this cabinet has that characteristic Wonky Aesthetic, belonging to most ShellfishSmith items! Collection from my North London studio, or please contact me to arrange a local delivery.
About shellfishsmith
ShellfishSmith is a small but perfectly formed business offering handmade items. I specialise in all things for the home, from larger furniture pieces made from reclaimed pallet wood, down to little antique coat hooks and shelf brackets. For me, beauty is about functionality, so everything I make has a use. All my pieces are individually designed and handmade. This means that everything is absolutely unique - if the same design is used then the colour and texture of the material will vary, and due to the nature of making things by hand, no two pieces are ever alike. I graduated from Goldsmiths College with a degree in Fine Art, and I have since been working as a display co-ordinator for Anthropologie. ShellfishSmith began as occasional one off pieces for friends and family, and has grown to be a second job in which every spare minute is spent scouring markets, salvaging scrap wood and hunting through charity shops for offcuts of vintage wallpaper. You can follow me on twitter @shellfishsmith for tips, works-in-progress, inspiration (and cat pictures). View all posts by shellfishsmith
