This is a hand beaded necklace that features a stunning blue labradorite on black silk and gold threads. What makes labradorites interesting is that the color that you perceive depends on the angle that it is viewed from, making this a living stone, literally! The hand knotted chain beautifully accents the pendant with apatite and flashes of gold from tiny 24K gold plated beads. The labradorite pendant measures 35mm (1.38 inches) and the necklace has a length of 17 inches, including the gold plated toggle clasp.

I know nothing about jewelry, so please forgive this odd question – The labradorite is very pretty – is it found naturally in a stone and you polish and shape for the jewellery piece?
I forgot to add, labradorite with a lot of color is also called spectrolite.
I’m glad you asked, I love labradorite! The center pendant is the labradorite. It’s a naturally occurring stone and gets it’s name from Labrador, Canada where it is often found. It’s colors are completely natural and result from refraction within the stone. Rough labradorite has the same flashes of color. People cut and polish them. I purchased the polished stone and used it for this necklace.
Feel free to ask any more questions! I can go into a LOT more detail as I think labradorite is such a fun gemstone.
Thank you so much for answering my question. The pendant is stunning. 🙂
Very cool!
