About Silver Fox Designs

When you come from a family of artists, musicians, singers and dancers, they naturally expect to you be one too. There are a couple of major drawbacks to this type of expectation. The first is that if you have little or no talent you will probably spend a part or all of your life being the square peg trying to fit into a round hole. The other is that having a “safe and secure” job in an office will probably drive you nuts. I know. I’ve been there. While I have some talent in all of the arts mentioned above, it wasn’t enough (nor did I love most of them enough) to make a career out of it. I don’t know what prompted me to try my hand at making jewellery, but it was love at first attempt. I tried my hand at a number of techniques before settling on wire work. There is something very special to me about bending and shaping the wire either with a tool or by hand. There is an element of unpredictability in working with natural materials like metal, stone and pearls. Mother Nature is a great design partner. I let my materials tell me what they want to become. I may start out to make pearl and copper earrings, but in the process, the design that comes may work better with amethyst chips. No two are ever exactly alike. View all posts by Silver Fox Designs
