About Yvi

I grew up in the socialist Budapest in the 70's, the capital of Hungary in the heart of Europe, raised by strict but very loving parents. I was always attracted to art and of course I did create things but nothing spectacular. When my family said I did great it was enough for me, I was satisfied. Surrounded by museums, some hundred and thousand year old buildings, objects and history, having sculptor, ceramic artist, painter, architect, restorer friends was the most natural thing ever, I was balanced and happy, had nothing missing. Moving to Florida almost a decade ago has changed this, although I didn't quite know for a long time what exactly the matter was since the sun was shining, birds were chirping, the lovely hot weather and the beauty of Siesta Beach occupied my attention. People were kind, appreciative, helpful. What else would one want? right? But whenever I wanted to buy a gift to my friends found almost nothing with a history behind it - I felt like a piece of my heart was torn out, I felt so disappointed. So I taught myself how to work with ceramic clay. Perhaps in the beginning my gifts didn't turn out perfect but were highly appreciated. And as I realized that I was hooked by the clay, I needed to know more building and glazing techniques. And now not only my friends but strangers are buying from me to surprise their friends and family. My favorite styles are rustic and modern colorful - it took me a while to figure out how to use both in one creation but I found my style and became balanced and happy again. I only miss my family.
