The wood is camphor burl, a rare and gorgeous wood set in bright rhodium mechanics.
Turned by hand on a lathe, I shaped the subtle curves and sanded the wood up to 10k grit for maximum shimmer, then gave it a thin coat of 100% pure tung oil to bring out the swirling grain. After setting overnight, it received 9 layers of durable cyanoacrylate buffed to a high gloss shine.
I chose the eye-catching rhodium setting with black accents for this pen, the perfect complement to the stunning wood. The nib extends with a twist and writes in ballpoint black ink (blue available under Options). Ink refills are available in any office supply store, ensuring this pen will be used and loved for many years.
This writing instrument is very comfortable in the hand. It’s about the same length as your average pen but is considerably more substantial to hold. It’s really a joy to use.
