This is a simple holiday decoration made from a bottle gourd. An opening cut in the “bowl” of the gourd holds a painted plaster trio of holiday shoppers. A small amount of greenery is placed at their feet. The inside of the gourd is painted white and is streaked with glitter. The outside is painted with a light coat of gold paint to show brush strokes and to allow the dark markings of the gourd to lightly show through.
The gourd cops a lean to one side and has a long lightly coated glittery stem that curves to the opposite side of the lean. The stem does have a flaw though, it has a kink in it. You can see a close up of it in one of the photos.
The inside and outside of the gourd is finished with a light coating of acrylic to seal and protect it. This holiday gourd decoration is finally finished with a wide festive holiday wire-edged ribbon fashioned into a large bow around its neck.
This holiday gourd decoration is 10 1/2 inches tall and just over 6 inches in diameter. It is very lightweight, weighing only 7 ounces. Although the gourd itself is very lightweight, I packaged it carefully with much packaging material to protect it and to keep the bow from getting crushed during shipping.
This is a one-of-a-kind winter holiday decoration made from a gourd with personality! There will never be another one like it!
