The earrings are made with Turkish needle lace, “oya” technique using red polyester thread and orange seed beads. The clasp is nickel free. Adhesives and starch are not used. They are made in a smoke free and pet free enviroment.

Let me tell more about needle lace. It is basically making knots with a needle. “Oya” is a very traditional way of embellishing scarves. Women wore these scarves for decades and still wearing. Besides being an embellishment, young girls used it as a way to tell their love. Giving your scarf to the man you love means “I love you and I promise, I will always love you.” I learned it from my mom and instead of following the old path, I make jewelry with the technique.

The earrings are extremely light and easy to wear.
