Inspired by the beautiful colors of Red Rocks, Colorado. Beautiful sandstone colors of terra cotta, cream, amber and bronze. In order to bring forth these beautiful shades I have used Miyuki tila glass square beads in shades of transparent amber rainbow, opaque matte terra cotta, golden rainbow and opaque matte cream. Each lovely tila square was hand sewn onto strips of natural Greek leather using C-Lon gold beading thread. At each end I used a small golden tiger eye round. For the closure I used a vintage antique copper button that has been restored to show the beautifully intricate details. I used a silk wrapping technique to create the button closure. For the silk wrapping I used two different colors to pick up the colors in the tila beads.
Miyuki is the oldest and finest manufacturer of Japanese seed beads. Tila beads are their newest creations. Flat tile squares with two tiny holes drilled in. When you see these little beauties in person you will be amazed at how they were created.
The leather is a natural Greek leather. Great leather is one of the finest and only comes from the best hides.
The vintage antique copper button was found in an antique store. It had a lot of green verdigris which I carefully removed with lemon juice. Then I lacquered it to restore it’s sheen. I have no idea of the age but I loved the details.
This bracelet was made to fit a 6 to 7 inch wrist, double wrapped. There are two closures so that you can size it where you like. If you are petite and only need the first hole you can trim off the extra length at an angle or just leave the tail attached. Using a flexible measuring tape, measure just above (towards elbow) the wrist bone, then add 1/4″ to 1 ” (1/2″ is average) depending on how tight you like your bracelets to fit. That is the size bracelet you would wear.
I love the color combination on this bracelet and the square beads.
Thank you so much Audrey.
