The smaller the pieces of strawberries, the faster they will reconstitute. Dried Strawberries reconstitute quicker in hot liquids or if simmered. If you prefer not rehydrate in this manner, you can also soak them in warm water for several hours or overnight. Be sure to drain off any excess water after reconstituting.

As a rule of thumb, use half as much dried strawberries in any recipe calling for fresh. Because dried fruit packs much more densely than fresh fruit, be more frugal with your measurements.

Instead of using water to reconstitute dried strawberries, some people prefer to use a complimentary fruit juice. This not only enhances the flavor while adding a bit of additional sweetness, but allows you to cut back on any called for sugar in your recipe.
