Slainte! This wood burned Celtic knot Irish drinking toast is the perfect accessory for your bar area.
“Sliainte” (SLAHn-che) is a traditional drinking toast in Ireland (and Scotland). The word is Irish Gaelic and translates to “Health!” as in “to your health.”
This beautiful Celtic knot was drawn and burned by hand into red oak. It hangs by a white metal chain.
The wood is 5 1/2″ (14 cm) wide by 5 9/16″ (14.1 cm) tall and is 1/4″ (.6 cm) thick. Some tool marks are visible on the surface, showing your guests this piece is entire hand made, not cranked out of some factory or cut by laser.
Before the pyrography, the front was sanded to 600 grit, making it silky-smooth. After pyrography, the entire piece was treated with boiled linseed oil, deepening the natural red oak.
