These dangly little earrings were inspired by the hawthorn bushes which grow in the hedgerows around the house.
The leaf shapes are cut from sheet silver. The simple lines of veins have been pierced out using a tiny saw blade, and the earrings have a shiny, polished finish. Each leaf measures approx 2cm (0.7 inches) by 1.5cm (0.5 inches) at the widest point.
Silver wire wrapped red “hawthorn berry” glass beads hang from the leaves, giving the earrings a splash of colour. The handmade silver wires are a small semi-hoop, with a little ‘tail’ that allows them to be inserted easily, and no fiddly clasps or hooks. The wires and beads bring the overall drop of the earrings up to just under 5cm (1.9 inches), making them very striking yet wearable.
