This handmade necklace features a detailed double-sided pewter charm of Sheela-na-gig on a sunburst pewter bail, surrounded by beautiful sky blue, gentle lilac, and young leaf green beads, and outlined with bright faceted crystal charms. Makes a wonderful gift for someone wishing for a baby, pregnant, breastfeeding, preparing to give birth, or working in a birth-related occupation. Perfect as a thank-you gift for a midwife, a doula, or an obstetrician.

Sheela-na-gig is a fertility symbol, found as a carving on the walls of medieval castles in Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, and other parts of Europe. Touching such a carving is said to bring fertility. Sheela-na-gig brings attention to the ability of the female body to expand in childbirth, and can serve as a great focal point for a woman in labour.

The necklace is about 21 inches (54 cm) long.
