Authentic sea glass is one of nature’s gifts to us. Pieces of glass that have found their way to the ocean are tumbled between the sand and surf for decades before washing up on shore, waiting to be found. Jewelry-grade sea glass must have a uniformly frosted surface and rounded edges and much of the sea glass I find on the beach does not meet the standards for my jewelry. Because sea glass is created from broken glass, no two pieces will ever be the same. But after years of collecting, I have found pieces that are similar enough to use to create earrings. These pieces of brown sea glass are wrapped with non-tarnish silver-enameled wire in a matching pattern. They are paired with Swarovski crystals and dangle below silver plated ear wires. The earrings measure about 2 1/2 inches (6 cm) from the curve of the ear wire.
