This pretty and elegant necklace was designed around the round faceted garnet drop, which is in a silver claw setting (not made by me – I bought it as a finished piece). I have teamed this lovely stone with a silver heart, which I cut by hand from sheet silver. This was heated with a flame until the surface just began to melt, a process called reticulation. This has given it a very light texture, similar to grains of sand, and a slightly matte finish.

This would be the perfect Valentine’s gift, or birthday present for anyone with a January birthday – garnet is the birthstone for January. Or maybe you just want to treat yourself!
