This is a washable, sewn, fabric photo frame for a 5×7″ photo, measuring 8×10″, with my Paris / Eiffel Tower inspired landscape art, printed onto June Tailor brand washable, colorfast, inkjet printer fabric sheets, using the 3 sheet pack available at JoAnn Fabrics or junetailor.com
It uses all 3 inkjet printer fabric sheets, for the frame front border or frame surround (front of frame), easel back panel, and front strut leg panel. It also uses 1 yard of light blue cotton for the rest of the 7 fabric panels. The patterns, that back the fabric, are printed directly onto Therm o Web, HeatnBond, Ultrahold, an acid free, paper backed, iron on, fabric adhesive. The pattern printouts are cut from a 5 yard roll of Ultrahold, available at Michaels, michaels.com, or thermowebonline.com, cut into 8 1/2″ x 11″ pieces, 2 across the roll, 16 down, up to 32 piece from a $10 roll, but use a 50% off store coupon, each sheet from the rolls is as little as $0.16 each. Patterns printed onto Ultrahold using an inkjet printer.
This frame is available as a sewing pattern download for $1, and is available as a readymade, tabletop frame for $30, $5 shipping, from http://fabricatedframes.com
If crafters or quilters want to make it, all they need is the fabric & inkjet fabric mentioned, the Ultrahold, mat board or cardboard for the removable easel back and strut leg boards that slide out of their pockets on the back, roll of light blue thread, a 9″ length of 1 1/2″ wide coordinating ribbon that connects the bottom right of the strut leg pocket, tucked inside the layers, to the bottom right of the easel back panel, tucked between layers. 2 button holes are made, using a sewing machine’s zigzag function, for hanging the frame vertically and horizontally, although this design runs vertically. You can use hot glue in certain spots that your sewing machine needle can’t get to, like pushing the ribbon into the bottom right space left open on the easel back panel for the ribbon to connect.
To wash, just place in a comfortably fitting, lingerie bag, place in the washer on the cold, delicate cyle, using mild detergent, like the Dollar Store WoolWash. Do not use fabric softener. You can place the frame in the dryer on low for 15 minutes, but you can also stand the frame on a towel to air dry. Do remove the boards, photo, and photo sleeve, before washing- don’t be like me, and forget, one time lol.
There is a front pocket for the photo and its protective sleeve, a clear, acid free, sheet protector page, cut to the size of the photo.
Patterns to print onto Ultrahold for all parts are in the download, as well as photo & text step by step instructions.
