You put so much love and care into your creations and do a little happy dance each and every time you get a sale….now what? You have to pack and ship off that handmade work of art to its new home, but before you do, think like a customer. When you order from Amazon you expect a box, bubble wrap, and an invoice, practical, but nothing that says it is something special. What about when you order from the artist?
Packaging can say a lot about you so take a few minutes to look at your packaging from a customer perspective and ask yourself if you would feel special when it arrives.
Marissa creates handmade bath and body products and her adorable presentation with something as simple as newspaper is made extra special with the cord and wax seal…this type of packaging would make anyone feel like they purchased something extra special and elegant.
How about color? Tammy Carter takes her already adorable bags and wraps them in bright tissue. This little pop of color will be the thing that sets her presentation apart from all others.
How about a simple Thank You to set you apart? Debra Witt Jespersen takes that short second to make sure that her customers know they are appreciated.
How about a bright earring card to hold your treasures safely. By adding your company logo and information you will make an impression on your customer.
Other items are hard to wrap, such as fragile creations. In this case safe shipping is much more important than anything, but that does not mean you can’t pretty it up? How long would it take you to tie a pretty ribbon or put on a sticker with your shop logo? The couple of minutes that it takes you to make your product extra special is what will make your customer stop and say wow and they will remember you in the future!
