Miranda and Emmi are a special mother/child pair, made in honor of our newest joy addition to our family. They are special to me, welcoming the addition to our family, and celebrating the first upload since she has arrived.
I dyed enough cotton velour fabric to make them out of the same cut, keeping them bound together not only in meaning, but in coloring and shades. They are wool stuffed, and the wings are weighted with glass doll weighting.
As with all of my creatures, all machine stitching is done in the triple stitch for added strength in the seams. Necks are jointed using doll safety (locking) joints. Wings and legs are string jointed. Because this is cotton velour fabric, they are fully lined in fleece for added strength and durability. Eyes are sewn on, and all sculpting is done, with upholstery thread that is doubled up for even more strength. (although care should always be taken with children under three since they do have small parts.)
Miranda weighs approximately 1 pound, and Emmi weighs approximately half of a pound. So they have a bit of weight for certain.
