Japanese kumihimo braiding with Miyuki magatama beads were used to create this gorgeous and trendy bracelet. I have named this piece “Faerydae” which means a “dark child, gift of the fairies”. There is something whimsical about kumihimo magatama braiding with a sort of dragonscale effect. To start I selected two colors of Miyuki magatama glass beads. The first, a beautiful matte metallic midnight blue iris. They have a wonderfully velvety texture and a sheen of blue with a tinge of green. The second are sparkling seafoam lined crystals with an aurora borealis finish. As the bracelet moves these will flash with shades of blue, purple and green. As you look in-between the scales you will find small Toho Japanese hex glass beads in a forest green shade. They add a little surprising pop of color nestled into the magatama beads.
To finish off the bracelet I selected smooth bright silver-plated end caps which have been wired on. By wiring the closure it adds more security to the bracelet. I hand-wrapped a link using bright sterling silver spacers. Inbetween the spacers are genuine Swarovski Austrian crystals in a shade called aquamarine satin. The toggle closure is of Bali silver in a twisted design with antiqued shading.
