Badgley Mischka’s pastels collection for Spring 2014 was my inspiration for this hand beaded butterfly necklace. One of my passions as an SRAJD member is making glass bead statement bid and fringe necklaces. I call them ‘Bib-O-Licious.
I was inspired to make a piece with my fantasy, a Monarch Butterfly that can be worn… oh and neon pink. If you’ve ever had a Monarch land on you, you’ll understand my love of this beautiful creature.
I love designing and constructing art pieces as jewelry that can be worn. This one is in pinks, fuchsia and purple. The Monarch is handwoven and then attached to the large sized hot pink beaded rope which can be worn as a separate piece. The small bead rope of many layers of various colors floats below the Monarch either twisted or laid flat. The layers rope can be removed using the claw clasps on each side.
Measures 16″ around the neckline. The butterfly wing span is 5 1/2″ and the body is 2 1/2″.
The clasp is a lovely silver tone toggle.
