The Veuve Clicquot champagne house started in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot. in 1805 his widow Barbe Nicole Clicquot took over the business at age 27 becoming one of the first business women of modern times. 1/4 of that year’s shipment is intended for Russia quickly gaining praise from Pushkin, Chekov and Gogol. The company continues to progress and innovate under the slogan “Only One Quality, The Finest”.
