Featured Artist Pin and Tack

The economy is rough, and while some are sinking under the pressure, others used it as a spring board to a new way of life! Such is the story of Corrinne, owner and creative superpower behind the cutest crafts you will ever see.

Corrinne has a crafty soul and loves all things handmade.  She admittedly spends most of her time either creating, thinking about creating, or checking out other’s creations.  She is also an avid nature lover who takes countless pictures of flowers and trees…all the while trying not to sunburn her fair skin!  She lives with her partner and her furry kids; two cats and a dog who, I’m sure, are plenty spoiled.

Corrinne has been creating beauty since she was a child, thanks to the encouragement of an artistic mother who sewed, knitted, crochet and cross-stitched.  While Corrinne never followed the needle and thread road, she did discover the joy of paper and other odds and ends and launched head first into scrap booking.  This passion for making beautiful pages set her up to dive into other arts and crafts.  She currently claims her favorite supply of all time is paint because you can change anything with paint…paper, slab of wood, furniture…the possibilities are endless.  Her heart skips a beat when she is surrounded by all things shiny with sparkles!

But how does a tough economy fit into this crafty life?  Well, when Corrinne lost her job she set out to find another.  Realizing that it was going to be a tough road, she decided it was time to take matters into her own hand and took a chance on herself and Pin and Tack was born.  Corrinne set up an Etsy shop selling little bits of this and that; everything from soap, to cards, to random creations and came to the realization that this is her passion.  The journey has been a road of learning and growing in art and in business but she would not have changed a thing.

Corrinne admits that owning a small business is not all sparkle and glitter.  A lot of time is taken away from family in favor of photographing, listing and processing orders rather than creating which is where her heart lies, but she understands that these things are just part of the package of being a self representing artist and she would not have it any other way.

Ready to see what an undying spirit and a willingness to take a chance on her own can produce?  Well, Pin and Tack began on one venue and has steadily expanded around the web.  You can still find her on Etsy as well as ArtFire.  You can keep up with her daily life of creative living through her blog, Twitter and Facebook and even get a dose of inspiration from her Challenge Blog.

Working for yourself is not a glitter filled road, but according to Corrinne, there is not other life that fills her creative soul like this one.
