Glass is such an amazing medium to work in with the shine and color and the way the light catches it; who wouldn’t love to have a piece of glass art?  Well, let me introduce you to a talented artist that can make such a treasure just for you.

Debbie is originally from Toronto, Canada who made the move to Michigan in order to marry her husband in 1996…awe, a love story!  Her darling was a creative sort himself being a woodworker and always encouraged Debbie’s creativity and passion for life and color.  Unfortunately, Tim passed away from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), but his encouragement still rings in Debbie’s ears and she passionately pursues her love of art.

Debbie currently lives with her two dogs, Sampson and Max, and her two cats, Keely and Solo.  She has been a Master Gardener since 2005 and found many of the natural elements of flowers and gardens find their way into her work.  She loves color and believes that there is no more wonderful palette than Mother Nature’s.  This love of color really shines through her glass work.

But how does one get started in glass?  Well, Debbie saw an ad for an adult enrichment class starting the next day.  Always wanting to experiment in stained glass, Debbie signed up and was instantly hooked.  She continued going to classes every week  working out ways to make the ideas in her head come to life in glass art.  She has made everything from panels and sun catchers to candle and business card holders, lamps, clocks, mirrors, music boxes, and garden stakes.  Seems that there is no limit to what Debbie will make work in glass.

Debbie’s first few years of stained glass art was devoted to making things for her home and for gifts…lucky friends!  With their encouragement from these friends, Debbie decided to start offering her work for sale…and Nostalgianmore was born.  She listed her treasures on Etsy and has been thrilled at each and every sale.

While Debbie admits that getting noticed on the web is tough, she has worked hard and is proud to say that her stained glass treasures are now on display around the world.  There are long promoting hours, but the rewards are worth it and still gets a thrill when she ships off a treasure to its new owners in Australia, New York and London!  Debbie currently is concentrating her efforts online, but does plan on showing at some arts and crafts fairs in the future.

Debbie is delighted when she finds a special piece of glass and often offers her work in limited quantities.  This specialty glass really speaks to her and the results are pieces that cannot be duplicated making it a true one of a kind treasure.  Even when she does recreate a piece, the nature of handmade means that each is still unique and special which is what really gets Debbie’s heart racing.  She often works with customers to create special orders in design and color and loves the idea that her work will become a generational keepsake for the lucky owners.

Debbie offers some advice for those looking to get into selling their own handmade treasures to the world; follow your dreams!  Seems easy, but it is a lot of hard work and long hours creating and promoting but you will never know if you can do it until you try.  The reward comes with the first sale and continues with each sale after…someone in the world loves your work enough to pay for it!
