How often have you  been on a search for that perfect “something” and you just can’t find it?  Solution…do it yourself which is exactly what Jordan did when he couldn’t find the perfect brooch to suite a unique style.  The experiment was so successful that he has created an entire business around the concept!

Jordan works as an information architect by day, which is basically a person that helps to design websites to make them more user friendly and spends her free time with his husband and two miniature schnauzers.  He always knew that he was a creative spirit and his parents fostered that creativity by doing crafts with the kids.  This encouragement gave him the confidence to pursue work in creative fields.

As mentioned above, Jordan was on the hunt for a brooch which spoke to his unique sense of style but was unable to find what he was looking for.  Rather than give up, he began to see it as an opportunity for a business, and after a lot of research, Hexagoninc was born.  Jordan keeps his eye on his business plan but still works hard to find as many eco-friendly and green options as possible.  His brooches are made from sustainable Baltic birch and ships in biodegradable bubble mailers which protects her wearable pieces of art as well as the environment.

Jordan loves to see his friends and family sporting his handmade brooches, but it is an even bigger thrill to have a perfect stranger fall in love with a piece he has created.  Jordan has not yet joined the craft show circuit but is searching out some local options.  Jordan understands that it is a lot tougher to sell a piece online as customers can’t pick up and hold these little works of art but instead must rely on pictures and descriptions.

Now that Jordan is more comfortable with  business, he offers a bit of advice to those looking to launch their own handmade designs for sale.  The biggest piece of advice, sit down and plan!  Know how much you are investing and set your goals that need to be met before moving on to the next one.
