This beautiful piece is truly one of a kind…it will never be able to be replicated. My inspiration for this piece came from this quirky little log I found. Standing over 3 feet tall, the Fairy Flight School is truly magical. The house is made with small pebbles and green moss. There are 9 windows total in the schoolhouse…one on each side of the second level, 2 on each side of the lower level, and one in the front above the door. Each window was hand cut, then pieces of hand cut stained glass were used as window panes. All of the stained glass for my pieces are from the Kokomo Opalescent Glass Shop, the oldest in the United States. You cannot find this glass anywhere else in the world! Hand cut twigs were used to frame out all windows. Each window is square, except the front window which is a hexagon. The front door is made of eucalyptus leaves and framed in grapevine, adorned with a small winged charm with a heart in the middle, to signify the flight school. The roofs are made from Eucalyptus leaves…each one hand picked, and hand glued…one at a time! There is a long handmade ladder, made from twigs, green moss, and twine, leading from the base, to the entrance level of the school. A large dried mushroom serves as a porch for this darling little house. A bridge made from dried bark, with a railing made from twine and twigs, leads from the front of the school to the ladder, which takes each fairy up to the “take off” pad. Each wooden step of the ladder leading to the flight pad was hand cut, and notches were cut from the branch to assure stability. Each step is covered in green moss. At the tip top of the branch, stands the “take off” pad. A round pad covered in green moss and surround in a fence made of twine and twigs for fairy safety. A hatch made of twigs was created to lead from the ladder, onto the “take off” pad. On top of the pad, sits a small dried walnut half filled with a supply of pixie dust for each fairy. No flight student fairy is allowed on the “take off” pad unless they are accompanied by a senior flight fairy for safety reasons of course! This entire structure sits on a 7 inch diameter, 2 inch thick, piece of log. A dowel rod and wire were used to hold the structure in place to assure sturdiness. The base is covered with a few large rocks to give the piece more texture. This piece does light up, which makes it truly amazing when lit. A light, with a 6 foot cord, and on/off switch IS included. This piece is absolutely unique and stunning. No detail was left unnoticed when creating this piece. No matter where you look, there is something more to see! This is a must have for any fairy lover!! All materials used in my pieces are recycled and eco friendly. No plants or trees were harmed in making any of my products.**Please note that all items are made to order, handmade with natural items. No two houses will be exactly the same. They will be very similiar. Please email me with any questions or custom orders. Thank you!
