Phantom quartz crystals and polished copper beads are crocheted on charcoal colored thread, and finished with a sterling silver trigger clasp.
Phantom quartz crystals absorb or inherit pieces of their surrounding environment during their development – some of these inclusions are fully formed minerals/crystals, and some are tiny specks that may be from many different minerals. I specially chose crystals with large or very colorful inclusions for this necklace.
It’s the inclusions in this quartz that make each crystal unique and fascinating. The crystals are graduated in size from the center out – so the largest crystal is in the middle and the crystals get gradually smaller toward each end.
I decided to call this necklace “Inclusions” because of something I read about phantom crystal inclusions on another website: “The method of formation allows for the absorption of learning over eons of time” (www.crystal-cure.com). This quote made me consider that maybe we all have inclusions, and that maybe how we learn from them determines who we are and who we can become.
The longest center quartz crystal measures approximately 1 1/4″ (inch) long and 2/3″ wide, while the smallest crystals on the ends measure approximately 3/4″ long and 1/4″ wide. The copper beads may oxidize over time if continuously exposed to moisture and/or humidity.
According to some sources, phantom crystals symbolize universal awareness.
