This is an original collage by me, signed, unique, and using mixed media. The base is a piece of grey chipboard on fine italian cardstock. I used construction paper, kraft paper, and clippings from a vintage French Marie-Claire Magazine from 1932 which belonged to my grandmother. The Marie-Claire clipping contains a piece of a letter written by a reader to the magazine seeking romantic advance. The reader says she is misunderstood by her boyfriend and feels betrayed by her best friend as well. The phrase “To Love and Be Loved” is a portion of a quote by 19th Century French writter George Sand. The full phrase said: “There is only one happiness in life: to love and be loved.”

As in all my works, I use real vintage collage media that I source in France or abroad, during my trips back home or exploring other countries. All the items listed in my shop are one of a kind, put together with old postcards, newspapers and other memorabilia that I dig from my grandparents’ trunks in South West France or flea markets.  These materials are seeing a new life through collage and will make you dream and imagine while evoking far away places and past moments in time.
