The wood body of this handcrafted pen is lovely red cedar wood cut just at the juncture of the heartwood. It has been inlaid with an elongated 4-level Celtic knot comprised of ebony and birch woods. This is a unique, one of a kind pen.

It took a day to create the inlay. Then, in a four-day process, I cut and applied each 4-layer ring of the Celtic knot. After turning and sanding the wood by hand on a lathe up to 800 grit for maximum shimmer, this wood received a thin coat of 100% pure tung oil to make the colors pop. After curing, it received 9 successive layers of durable cyanoacrylate coating buffed to a high gloss shine before mounting in its setting.

The setting is brushed brass with Celtic knot filigree on the tip, clip and end with a clear green cabochon in the tail. Together, they’re the perfect accent to the beautiful wood. The black ink cartridge extends with a turn of the tail to write smoothly in ballpoint ink.

Since the ink cartridge is easily replaceable, this stunning handcrafted wood pen is sure to be cherished for years to come.

I named this pen “Cedar Ogham” in honor of its Celtic theme.
