Seems there is a day for everything, so why not a day for pickles!  Today, November 14th, is National Pickle Day! In 2030 BC, preserved cucumbers were being imported from India to Tigris Valley…the first pickle!  In ancient Egypt, Cleopatra attributed her beauty to a full diet of pickles and centuries later, Napoleon believed they offered such health benefits that he offered a huge cash prize to anyone that was able to preserve them safely.  Today, millions of pickles are consumed around the world for their taste…and what better way to celebrate this star of the picnic than through handmade?
