This 2″ x 6″ handmade bookmark features an original photograph of a rainbow that appeared in the sky above the ocean on a moody, Pacific Northwest day, printed on fabric, and accented with multicolored, iridescent blue seed beads that spell out the word read in uncontracted (Grade 1) braille. The word “read” lingers in the sky near the rainbow that shimmers above the ocean waves as they crash against the shore. The back of the bookmark is finished with a soft gray fabric covered with a random pattern of shimmery yet understated silver dots that echo the braille dots forming the word on the front of the bookmark. The edges of the bookmark are finished in silver thread using a decorative stitch, and a silver grommet anchors a white ribbon trimmed in silver at the top of the bookmark. This bookmark is a unique work of art, combining original photography, braille, and a message that encourages literacy and a love of reading. It is the perfect gift for any bookmark collector, any book lover / bookworm, or anyone who appreciates unique and functional art.
Original handmade braille gifts and handcrafted braille art by Beadtography. Please be aware that our Braille Art uses uncontracted (Grade 1) braille and that the beading is done by hand, so it will not be perfectly aligned or of absolutely uniform size, due to the variable nature of the beads and the realities of handcrafting. Similarly, each bookmark may differ very slightly from others of the same pattern, or from the specific bookmark shown in the images above.
