Deep blue faceted dumortierite beads are accented with blue and green Ancient Roman glass. This piece is finished with a sterling silver lobster clasp. Recycling glass was a vital part of the Roman glass-making industry, and broken vessels, such as cooking pots, were oftentimes melted down into reusable glass. These Roman glass beads were unearthed from an ancient melting facility in the Kingdom of Bactria in what is now modern Northern Afghanistan. These glass beads are between 1200 and 2000 years old.
