The the middle section of the hat has been worked in a technique known as Fair Isle or stranded color work – I hold a strand of yarn in my left hand and a strand of yarn in my right hand and work alternate the colors as needed. This results in producing not only a handsome hat, but also a hat with additional insulation at the top, due to the double strand work inside.
