This is a one of a kind handcrafted wood reading stand for the iPad (not included). It was handcrafted from natural driftwood gathered from the shores of the Potomac River at Quantico, Virginia, during a family outing.
It’s perfect for hands-free facetiming or skyping, reading, playing games and keeping your iPad upright and facing you on your desk or table. It’s a beautiful piece of nature to compliment your decor. Driftwood is loved by many for its natural worn beauty, and this piece is no exception.
It was designed specifically for the iPad (any model), Kindle Paperwhite or similar thin electronic device. I carved a horizontal slot across the body of the piece with a shallow lip in the front and angled support in the back. The slot is open on one end to allow any size device to display in landscape position.
The device lean-back angle is very shallow, keeping your screen almost vertical but firmly in place. The highest point of the back support, right of center in the photos, is more than an inch high, giving your iPad plenty of support. Some of the wood was removed from the bottom to ensure your device stays level in either portrait or landscape mode. The iPad button is fully accessible and unobscured in either position.
The slot was sanded to 400 grit, making it smooth to the touch while maintaining a rustic look. The exterior remains rough and untreated, just as the sand and water of the Potomac made it. Numerous wormholes are visible throughout the piece, particularly on the bottom where it was cut (the piece remains quite solid).
Please note this stand will ONLY accommodate thin devices like iPad, the original Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and similar thin devices due to its thinner slot. It will NOT accommodate the Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD or devices thicker than about 3/8 of an inch (0.95 centimeter) at the edges. The width of the slot dictates which devices will fit, so be sure to measure the thickness of your device (or check its stats online) before ordering this beautiful stand.
