One thing I am passionate about is bringing my customers unique materials and fine pens… here is a fantastic example. This pen sports a vintage look, using vintage material.
THE MATERIAL
This handmade rollerball pen is made from vintage Mazzucchelli Cebloplast (science nerds know it as cellulose acetate). This Italian resin was produced by the 1849 Mazzuchelli S.P.A. Company decades ago, for use by the biggest pen companies. It has long since been discontinued, but occasionally, a stash turns up on some dusty shelf somewhere, and the material is snatched up almost immediately. I was lucky enough to obtain some of this very rare material.
Cebloplast isn’t for novice pen makers. It has a low melting point, making cutting, drilling and turning difficult. Only the best pen makers can harness the beauty in this material… it takes patience, experience and a steady hand.
