I admit that when I am wandering craft shows and art galleries on thing that always catches my eye is anything made from glass.  The color and silkiness as well as the variety of shapes it can take has always fascinated me…and it obviously fascinates Sarah as well!

Sarah was one of those lucky girls who had artists in her family that willingly encouraged her to pursue her visions.  As a little girl she designed clothes for her dolls, usually out of tissues, and later spent countless hours in the art room at school drawing and painting before stumbling onto glass.  She quickly realized the potential for working in a 3Dementional medium and has not looked back since.  Sarah went on to attain a BFA and MFA in fine art so in addition to her smaller glass pieces she creates, as she calls them “completely non functional, impossible to sell sculptures and installations” which I happen to believe the world needs more of!

Her love of glass began with an interest in glass blowing, but she quickly saw the amazing potential for manipulating glass in a kiln.  Sarah now creates a dizzying array of work from fusing, slumping, and casting that has to be seen to be believed.  She loves that fact that glass is so malleable that you can actually change it into almost anything with the addition of heat.

As mom of two little girls, one of whom is just a few months old, Sarah is trying to balance her love of her art with the demands of being mom but before that, she managed an art studio for 5 years.  She soon realized that working for someone else was not where her heart lay and she decided to open up her own glass studio selling functional fused glass jewelry and tableware.  She signed up for a wholesale trade show and the rest is history!  While she still sells wholesale she has shifted her focus more to selling online so that she can spend every precious moment possible with her girls.

Sarah enjoyed shows, meeting and talking to people is always an adventure; but she admits that she is not a sales person.  She understands that selling your own work takes time and dedication because even the best product will not sell if nobody ever sees it!  She is always learning, more so now about online selling, that she ever thought possible and is working to grow her online presence every day.
