I have created a unique Katy Perry iconic portrait with beautiful fabric scrap. Various techniques from graphic design, hand painted, appliqué, free motion to art quilt are combined for this unique piece of artwork. Finally a wearable art quilt that is lovingly handcrafted on to the canvas tote handmade by my friend who is a seamstress for a fashionable statement. Truly one of a kind!
Currently, I’m a graphic designer and I love to dabble with art and craft in my leisure times. A few years ago, thanks to my mother-in-law’s gift of a sewing machine and my discovery of craft, do-it-yourself or sewing blogs as well as youtube tutorial videos in early 2010, which opened my eyes to a whole new world of sewing. I saw what amazing, beautiful things that you can create all on your own and in doing so, save a whole lot of money! I have learned so much from the authors of these wonderful blogs and lately art quilt has become my new obsession. This new passion in sewing especially creating art quilt but I have my own misgiving and reservation of the systematic and methodical step by step creation of quilt. I feel that it is rather rigid and restrictive since I am more free spirited in my style. That is where I discovered to my joy you can create freestyle art with fabric and techniques through art quilt. I am still learning myself, I make mistakes and definitely not an expert but I hope in future, I will master the free motion and art quilting techniques to create truly beautiful art quilt.
