I am so happy to announce that this piece has been published in the November 2012 issue of Bead Trends magazine by North Ridge Publishing. It is in the Metal Smithing section of the magazine.
This stone is something I purchased in a small rock and mineral shop in southern Utah. These stones are native to Utah, and was mined pretty much in the owners backyard. The yellow portion of the rock is calcite and the brown portion is Aragonite. Stone is set in a handmade bezel. The back of the stone is visible. Bail is also handmade.
Size is measured from top of bail to bottom of pendant, 2.2 inch long by 1.2 inch wide, comes with an 18 inch sterling snake chain.
About dianesdangles
My jewelry is all handcrafted by my own two hands. I have been making jewelry for about 6 years. Art and crafts shows were my selling venues, but now I offer my products exclusively here on Artfire. My silversmithing skills were acquired over two years of attending classes. My beadwork is self-taught from reading numerous books. Gemstones and sterling silver metal are my favorite materials. My designs incorporate a collection of colors and designs to satisfy every style. Color can be used to express emotions. Mixing the right colored jewelry with appropriate work outfits will convey confidence, power, creativity, and good taste. For more information about the power of color and how it affects the people around you, go to my studio Blog and click on the Color Symbolism category: http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/blog/dianesdangles/343
I also have become fond of coin jewelry. All my coins were obtained from various countries I have visited. I never deface or alter any of my coins. My coins are mounted either in handmade gold filled or sterling bezels. Be sure to browse through my Coin Jewelry section for an array of coin pendants from foreign countries as well as old U.S. coins.
