why lessie & pearl… I come from a small town in South Louisiana and spent much of my childhood barefoot in the yards of these two AMAZING women, my grandmothers. I never had a babysitter…why would you need one when you lived within a few blocks from one grandmother and attended jr high one block from the other? I grew up watching MawMaw Lessie sew some of the most beautiful Mardi Gras costumes and eating all of the creations of MawMaw Pearl while watching her string rosary beads. These two strong and beautiful women helped shape me in so many ways…and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of them. As they say…to have one more day…that would be heaven. So since my jewelry comes from my heart, it should be named for two of the women in my heart. One day I will share the stories of my grandfathers…learning to make highballs and a true love of Johnny Cash (when country wasn’t cool) while in grade school and the boat named for me…two of the most creative men you could ever meet. Each such a skilled carpenter that believed in the integrity of their own work and built items that have far outlasted their lives. Any questions where my creativity and artistry come from?
