About Berserks

A typical day in the studio involves lots of tea drinking, cake eating and chatting, some glass making and either loading the log burner or enjoying the sunshine depending on the seasons. Always creative, many years ago I enrolled for a beginner’s course in stained glass and soon after moved to France with my young family. I enjoyed learning and experimenting with this exciting medium, making sun catchers, panels and small windows in beautiful French property. My ability to speak a 2nd language failed me completely however, when within the year I was asked if I would like to replace all the huge centuries old stained glass windows in the local church! Immensely flattered but close to nervous breakdown I politely declined! Some years later Matt, who is always known as Elf (it’s a long story for another time! but do check out his namesake in the Christmas section) realised that glass fascinated him too and wanted to join me on a regular basis at the bottom of the garden where I can always be found and his first piece, Esmeralda the scary looking Angel still hangs in pride of place in the workshop. Now, experienced and qualified we have been teaching, designing and producing innovative, tactile and above all usable stained and fused glass pieces for many years, some time ago we took the plunge renovated the old dilapidated barn in the garden and made Berserks a full time exciting occupation and have never been happier.
